When exploring our job openings, you may notice a stage called the Bar Raiser in our interview process.

At Remote we are committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive, bring their authentic self, and make a meaningful impact on shaping the future of our industry.

We recognize that achieving this means ensuring the right fit not only in terms of skills but also in values, communication style, and the unique demands of async work.

So you might be wondering, what is a Bar Raiser and why is it called that? A Bar Raiser is a specially trained team member who participates in the interview process to maintain Remote's high hiring standards. The role Bar Raisers play in the hiring process is to providing an objective and unbiased assessment of a candidate's values alignment and their ability to be successful in an all-remote async setting.

The Bar Raiser interview happens near the end of the process and it’s a 30-minute conversation with a Remoter who works outside of the department you're applying to join. This independent perspective helps ensure consistency and fairness across our hiring practices. The discussion focuses on your alignment with our values, async work, as well as your approach to communication, and collaboration which is central to how we operate.

How does this help the process? This stage helps us maintain a high bar for excellence while ensuring we’re building teams that share our commitment to care, innovation, transparency, intensity and excellence.
