Why
If you want to build high-performing teams, it’s essential to define what good looks like, align on those standards, and then objectively and consistently measure performance.
This page is to outline what performance means at your org and how you measure it.
What
Ownership of Career Development
- Emphasize the concept of individuals taking ownership of their own career development. Mention that this includes recognizing that it can be more challenging for individuals from minority groups to advocate for themselves.
Decoupling Hierarchy and Expertise
- Discuss the importance of separating career progression and expertise development from traditional hierarchical structures. Highlight the benefits of allowing employees to grow in their roles without the pressure of chasing titles or monetary rewards.
Promotion Criteria
- Address when promotions should occur – whether it's when someone is already performing at their current level or when they're prepared to take on the responsibilities of the next level. Provide a link to your organization's specific promotion policy if available.
How
Outline the key operating principles that should guide performance measurement and management at your organization.
These principles could include:
Transparency, fairness, continuous feedback, and data-driven decision-making.
Remember to include any company-specific insights and guidelines that align with your organization's values and objectives.
