💡 Transformation projects impact a lot of people in the business. As such they require a slightly different toolkit and approach. At Open Org, we’ve developed a playbook for startups and scale-ups that draws from our experience working with other 30 different companies from 10 person startups to post-IPO companies.
This blueprint is Inspired by those learnings and draws from Kotter, Organisational Development, Design Thinking and Change Management best practice.
Who is it for:
It’s intended for People Leaders who want to deliver a raft of transformative change to their business-wide ways of working and operations, using a set of principles and guiding stages to maximise team alignment, transparency, engagement and project success. AKA create lasting value for their business and not waste time and money.
What it is:
A high level blueprint to adapt and tailor to your context.
A compass for larger projects (high impact and 4-6 weeks +)
What it is not:
A blanket template for every project. (This is definitely not a framework for JFDIs!)

1. Spark Urgency:
- Strategic Storytelling: Forge a forward-looking vision that underscores the desired business impact and remember: frame the urgency in terms of why the future is needed, not why the past is bad!
- Drive Awareness: Illustrate the immediate need for change with compelling story, metrics and the commercial risks of standing still.
2. Rally Change Makers:
- Stakeholder Dynamics: Pinpoint the individuals and teams crucial to your transformation's success and rally them as your change advocates.
- Crowd-source ideas: Invite co-creation on the problem statement, potential benefits and prototype a solution.
3. Craft Vision & Roadmap
- Goal-Setting: Set tangible and achievable measures of success. Plan the Roadmap to deliver early benefits aka Quick Wins :-)
- Comms and stakeholder engagement: Set the project up for success with a stakeholder feedback loop and comms plan. Identify supporters and detractors; create a plan for each/all.
4. Amplify
- Dynamic Communication: Same core message, multiple comms channels. Repeat.
